PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an endoscope 2 capable of transmitting an optical signal in a stable manner.SOLUTION: An endoscope 2 includes an insertion part 80 in which a hard tip part 81, a curved part 82 to change the direction of the hard tip part 81, and a soft part 83 are continuously connected, and an optical fiber 50 for transmitting an optical signal that is inserted into the inside of the insertion part 80. The hard tip part 81 is provided with an image pickup device 90, an optical element 10 for converting an electric signal output by the image pickup device 90 to an optical signal, a holding member 40 having a through-hole 40H into which a leading end of the optical fiber 50 is inserted, and a wiring board 20 on which the optical element 10 is mounted and to which the holding member 40 is joined.
