This invention relates to a method and a system of producing nanoparticles and nanoparticle matrices of thermolabile, biocompatible matrix matrials, like lipids and biopolymers with controlled properties. A prototype pulse-heat aerosol system is described for single-step production of free, thermolabile nanoparticles with sufficient control over size, morphology and crystallinity with controlled-release properties, for possible therapeutic, cosmetic or diagnostic use.. Nanoparticles of the range 50 to 500 nm are obtained and are found suitable for controlled drugs delivery.
