An antimicrobial composition comprising (a) a cationic surfactant derivedfrom the condensation of fatty acids and esterified dibasic amino acids, suchas lauric arginate and (b) an antibiotic, such as of ß-lactam antibiotics,polypeptides, quinolones. The composition may be used as a stand alone antimicrobialformulation, or in combination with medical articles or medical devices.
