The present invention relates to an over-the-needle (OTN) catheter assembly having an improved needle hub. The OTN catheter assembly includes a catheter having a lumen extending between its proximal and distal ends. The needle has a proximal end and a distal end and is disposed within the lumen of the catheter. The needle hub is provided at the proximal end of the needle and has a bore hole extending between the proximal and distal ends of the needle hub. The needle hub also has a bore hole and at least one cavity extending to the outer surface of the needle hub. The needle is arranged such that at least a portion thereof extends into the bore hole so that the needle is exposed from the outer surface through the cavity to connect the nerve stimulator to the needle.
