The present disclosure provides aromatic-cationic peptide compositions and methods of using the same. The methods comprise use of the peptides in inhibiting cholesterol-induced cytochrome c peroxidase activity, promoting reduction of cytochrome c, and inhibition of cardiolipin peroxidation to treat, prevent or ameliorate cholesterol-induced mitochondrial dysfunction.La présente invention concerne des compositions de peptides cationiques aromatiques et leurs méthodes d'utilisation. Ces procédés comprennent l'utilisation desdits peptides pour inhiber l'activité peroxydase du cytochrome c induite par le cholestérol, pour favoriser la réduction de cytochrome c, et pour inhiber la peroxydation de la cardiolipine, afin de traiter, prévenir ou faire régresser les symptômes d'un dysfonctionnement mitochondrial induit par le cholestérol.
