The present invention relates to an apparatus and a method for extracting a respiration ingredient by analyzing a frequency of a pulse waveform obtained from a pulse wave, and more particularly, to an apparatus for extracting a respiration ingredient by analyzing a frequency of a pulse waveform obtained from a pulse wave, which detects a pulse wave by using a pulse wave measuring unit and more precisely detects the breathing rate of a user by using only the pulse wave measuring unit without any additional hardware through the filtering and fast fourier transformation of the detected pulse wave with high speed furrier, and to a method thereof. The apparatus includes a pulse wave measuring unit which is installed at an end of a finger for detecting a plethysmogram of a user by using Photo-plethysmography using properties that oxyhemoglobin (HbO2) absorbs light in the infrared ray range； a high pass filter for passing a signal having a frequency of 0.1 Hz or more among data signals measured by the pulse wave measuring unit； a fast fourier transformation processor for performing a fast fourier transformation of signal data passing through the high pass filter through complex number calculation； and a respiration extracting unit for detecting a peak value from the data processed by the fast fourier transformation processor to determine the breathing rate.본 발명은 맥파로 얻어진 맥파형의 주파수 분석을 통한 호흡성분 추출장치 및 방법에 있어서, 특히 맥파 측정부를 이용하여 맥파를 검출하고, 아울러 검출된 맥파를 필터링 및 고속 퓨리에 변환을 거쳐 별도의 하드웨어 없이 맥파 측정부만을 이용하여 사용자의 호흡수를 보다 정밀하게 측정토록 하는 것을 특징으로 하는 맥파로 얻어진 맥파형의 주파수 분석을 통한 호흡성분 추출장치 및 방법에 관한 것으로,손가락 끝에 설치되며, 동맥혈의 산화헤모글로빈(HbO2)이 적외선(IR) 대역의 광을 흡수하는 특성을 이용한 광전식맥파계(Photo-plethysmography)를 이용하여 사용자의 용적맥파를 검출하기 위한 맥파 측정부와； 상기 맥파 측정부에서 측정된 데이터 신호중에서 0.1Hz 이상의 주파수 대역만을 통과시키는 고역통과필터와； 상기 고역통과필터를 통과한 신호 데이터를 복소수(complex number) 연산을 통해 고속 푸리에 변환을 수행하는 고속 푸리에 변환 프로세서와； 상기 고속 푸리에 변환 프로세서를 통해 수행된 데이터에서 피크치를 검출하여 호흡수를 판단하기 위한 호흡수 추출부를 포함하여 구성함이 특징이다.
