To provide a coated seed which improves oxygen generation amount and generation environment and stabilizes germination and initial growth of seed.SOLUTION: The coated seed 10 includes a seed body 1 and a covering material 2 covering the seed body 1. The coating material 2 contains montmorillonite 4 in addition to the oxygen generating agent 3 containing calcium peroxide and the binder containing gypsum. It is preferable that the outer shell of the coated seed 10 covered with the covering material 2 has a concave-convex portion 5 in the form of a sprinkle. It is preferable that the seed body 1 is a seed of paddy rice, more preferably the seed body 1 is in a non-germinated state. As a result, the coated seeds 10 can be stored at room temperature for 2 months.
