In one embodiment, an IDDC system utilizesan intelligent therapeutic agent delivery system comprised ofone, but more likely an array of 'cells' containing therapeuticagent(s) and/or diagnostic agents(s)； an integrated bio-sensingsystem designed to sample and analyze biological materialsusing multiple sensors that include both hardware and softwarecomponents. The software component involves biomedicalsignal processing to analyze complex liquid mixtures anda microcontroller(s) acts as interface to the biosensors, tothe therapeutic delivery elements, and to a communicationssystem(s) for the purpose of controlling the amount oftherapeutic agent to deliver and also to provide informationin a useful form to interested parties on the progress of therapy andcompliance thereto. The synergistic effect of combining theabove describe elements is expected to dramatically improve patient compliancewith prescribed therapy, quality and timeliness ofcare provided by physicians, and at the same time reduce the cost of providingeffective healthcare to IDDC system users, therebyimproving profitability for Managed Care organizations and pharmaceuticalcompanies utilizing the system.
