PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel neurite outgrowth promoter which exerts higher effects on promotion of neurite outgrowth than that of known neurite outgrowth promoters.
SOLUTION: The novel neurite outgrowth promoter contains, as an active ingredient, at least one of: (1) a polypeptide which includes U-Ca domain, has a total length of 220 or less amino acids and includes a CEP-68 protein portion (2) a polypeptide which has a 90% or more of homology with the polypeptide of (1) and has a neurite outgrowth-promoting activity and (3) a polypeptide in which other regions are added to a C-terminal of the polypeptide of above (1) or (2) and which has the neurite outgrowth-promoting activity.
