The ureteral stent includes edges for deployment within the kidney and bladder, respectively, which are not coplanar. The bladder end of the stent includes a lumen groove that is covered by a sleeve of a softer material than the remainder of the stent to allow sufficient pressure of urine to flow out of the stent between the stent and the sleeve. The bladder end of the stent adapts its shape in response to respiratory changes in the length of the stent.
