PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide compounds and methods useful for blocking the air leakage in thoracic cavity.SOLUTION: A compound and composition are a particular amphipathic peptide of 8 to 200 amino acid residue length, the peptide forming gel by natural autoagglutination in the presence of physiological pH and/or cations. The peptide contains a repeated sequence of arginine-alanine-aspartic acid-alanine (RADA). A method for blocking pulmonary air leakage in a subject includes a step of applying the compound to the pulmonary air leakage site.
