PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a particle which is excellent in dispersibility in a hydrophobic solvent, and a cosmetic including the particle.SOLUTION: A cosmetic includes a particle with a polymer chain having a constituent unit represented by general formula -CH2C(R1)COOR2- (wherein R1 is a hydrogen atom or a methyl group and R2 is a 8-18C alkyl group) or a constituent unit represented by general formula -CH2C(R1)CONHR2- (wherein R1 is a hydrogen atom or a methyl group and R2 is a 8-18C alkyl group) introduced on a surface thereof where a metal oxide exists.
