The present invention relates to the novel use (anti-inflammatory activity) of Ramalin isolated from the Antarctic lichen Ramalina terebrata , and more specifically to a pharmaceutical composition containing Ramalin as an active ingredient. Ramalin of the invention is a compound derived from natural material, has no toxicity or side effects, and inhibits the expression of inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS) in the transcription stage to significantly inhibit the production of nitric oxide (NO) that is a key mediator of inflammatory responses. In addition, it inhibits the activation of the inflammatory mediator NF-ºB, inhibits p38 MAPK, ERK1/2 and JNK signaling pathways, and inhibits the expression of the LPS receptor TLR4, suggesting that Ramalin has an excellent anti-inflammatory effect. Thus, the composition containing Ramalin can be effectively used to fundamentally treat or prevent inflammatory diseases or immune diseases and to relieve or alleviate the symptoms of the diseases.本発明は、南極地衣類であるＲａｍａｌｉｎａ ｔｅｒｅｂｒａｔａから分離したラマリンの新規用途である抗炎症活性に関し、より詳細にはラマリンを有効性分として含有する医薬組成物に関するものである。本発明のラマリンは、天然物由来の物質で、毒性及び副作用がなく、ｉＮＯＳ（酸化窒素生成酵素）の発現を転写段階で抑制して、炎症反応の核心媒介物質であるＮＯ（酸化窒素）の生成を顕著に抑制し、炎症媒介前駆物質であるＮＦ－κＢの活性化を抑制し、ｐ３８ＭＡＰＫ、ＥＲＫ１／２及びＪＮＫ信号伝達経路を抑制し、ＬＰＳレセプターであるＴＬＲ４の発現も抑制した結果、優れた抗炎症効果を持つため、これを含有する組成物は、炎症疾患または免疫疾患を根本的に治療及び予防するだけでなく、症状を緩和又は改善させるのに有用である。
