A system and method for deploying an occluding device that can be used to remodelan aneurysm within the vessel by, for example, neck reconstruction or balloonremodeling. The system comprises an introducer sheath and an assembly for carryingthe occluding device. The assembly includes an elongated flexible member havingan occluding device retaining member for receiving a first end of the occludingdevice, a proximally positioned retaining member for engaging a second end ofthe occluding device and a support surrounding a portion of the elongated flexiblemember over which the occluding device can be positioned.
