USE OF ANTAGONISTS TO THE NUCLEAR STEROID RECEPTOR ALONE OR IN COMBINATION AS DIRECT ANTIVIRAL AGENTS TO INHIBIT ALPHAVIRUS, TOGAVIRIDAE, ARENAVIRIDAE, FILOVIRIDAE, BUNYAVIRIDAE, FLAVIVIRIDAE AND RHABDOVIRIDAE
The present invention is directed to therapeutic use of antagonists of the mineralocorticoid / aldosterone receptor for their previously unappreciated, prophylactic and therapeutic properties in preventing damage to the endothelial barrier that causes loss of vascular integrity resultant from filoviral infection of a patient and the effect of the Ebola viral coat glycoproteins GP1 / 2 attaching to the aldosterone receptor and causing the loss of endothelial cell attachment leading to characteristic haemorrhaging which results in hypovolemic shock to the patient. The invention also relates to compositions that comprise antagonist of the mineralocorticoid / aldosterone receptor and an excipient.La présente invention concerne lutilisation thérapeutique dantagonistes du récepteur de minéralocorticoïde/aldostérone pour leurs propriétés prophylactiques et thérapeutiques sous-estimées précédemment, dans la prévention des dommages à la barrière endothéliale qui entraînent une perte de lintégrité vasculaire résultant dune infection filovirale dun patient et de leffet de la liaison des glycoprotéines GP1/2 de lenveloppe virale du virus Ebola au récepteur de laldostérone et qui amène la perte de la liaison aux cellules endothéliales conduisant à une hémorragie caractéristique qui entraîne un choc hypovolémique pour le patient. Linvention concerne également des compositions qui comprennent un antagoniste du récepteur de minéralocorticoïde/aldostérone et un excipient.
