PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To ease variation of the density around the skin and to restrain occurrence of false detection in a detection device for an abnormal shadow in a radiation image.
SOLUTION: A region with large variation of the density around the skin is specified in a medical image, and variation of the density around the skin is eased and occurrence of false detection is restrained by executing the face correction process for the region by using the least-square method.
