Anti-resterilization components for medical devices, such as catheter assemblies, are disclosed herein. In one embodiment, for example, a catheter assembly comprises a handle assembly and an anti-resterilization component within the handle assembly. The anti-resterilization component comprises an absorptive material configured to absorb and selectively retain a component of a sterilization gas, such as ethylene oxide.
