CONSTITUTION: A tetranuclear arene-ruthenium compound or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof is provided. A pharmaceutical composition for preventing or treating cancer contains the compound or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof as an active ingredient. The compound or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof shows an anticancer activity through cancer cell apoptosis. The cancer is solid cancer.
