Embodiments of the present invention provide fried and expanded popcorn products synthesized from corn flour. The popcorn product is similar to normal popcorn in appearance, texture and taste. Corn flour is mixed with water to obtain a mixture. Corn flour is cooked under high temperature and high pressure. The corn flour is fed by a hammer type twin extrusion screw into a die hole provided at the end of the extruder. The corn flour is extruded out of the hole at high speed so as to obtain an irregular corn flour product. The corn flour product is cut into multiple pieces of desired length by the cutter.
