A photoacoustic measurement device and probe, wherein artifacts derived from photoacoustic waves generated at the surface portion of a test object are reduced in quantity without any lengthening of the photoacoustic measurement repetition period. A measurement light emitting part 12 emits measurement light at the test object. An acoustic wave detector 11 detects photoacoustic waves generated within the test object as a result of the measurement light. A correction light source 13 emits correction light at the test object. An optical intensity detector 14 detects reflected light produced by the correction light emitted at the test object being reflected by the test object. In a probe 10, the correction light source 13 and the optical intensity detector 14 are arranged between the measurement light emitting part 12 and the acoustic wave detector 11.
