PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a front grip which can improve a holding property of a fishing rod attached with a reel in use and to provide a fishing rod.SOLUTION: A cylindrical front grip positioned in a front side of a reel attachment position has an outer peripheral surface 63 having an arcuate cross section with a center axis 1a of a rod body 1 as a center, in the whole length. From a front end to a swollen peak part 11, the diameter of the outer peripheral surface 63 having the arcuate cross section enlarges. A radius of the outer peripheral surface 63 having the arcuate cross section in the swollen peak part 11 is maximum. On right/left both sides, cut surfaces 64a, 64b and 64c cutting the outer peripheral surface 63 having the arcuate cross section in predetermined reference surfaces flatly are respectively formed.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
