PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric vehicle enabling a suitable control to avoid a risk caused by an occupant's protrusion from a vehicle body.SOLUTION: An electric vehicle includes: a protrusion detection part 33 for detecting whether or not an occupant P's body is protruding from a vehicle body 10； an obstacle detection part 31 for detecting whether or not an obstacle exists around the vehicle body； a fist control part 41 for changing over whether or not allowing an operation of the obstacle detection part corresponding to a travel state of the vehicle body； and a second control part 43 for changing over a travel operation of the vehicle body on the basis of a detection result in the obstacle detection part and the protrusion detection part. The second control part, if the obstacle detection part is operating, regardless of an existence/nonexistence of a detection in the protrusion detection part, changes over a travel operation of the vehicle body corresponding to an existence/nonexistence of a detection in the obstacle detection part, and if the protrusion detection part is not operating, changes over a travel operation of the vehicle body corresponding to an existence/nonexistence of a detection in the obstacle detection part.
