The present invention relates to a method for controlling weed in an area, comprising of heating water at least at one heating location, supplying the heated water to a watering vehicle at the heating location, displacing the vehicle to the area with the weed to be controlled, and spraying the weed with the hot water while displacing the vehicle through the area, and to a device for controlling weed in an area, comprising a vehicle (1) provided with a reservoir (2) for hot water, a sprayer (3) for spraying an area to be rid of weed with the hot water from the reservoir and a drive (6) which is emission-free during use, such as an electrical drive.
