An anesthetic container and closure for transferring anesthesia from a container to a vaporizer. A hinged closure member is moveable between an open position and a closed position by a receiving member of a vaporizer when the anesthetic container is attached to the vaporizer for transfer of liquid anesthetic from the anesthetic container to the vaporizer.
