Provided herein are humanized antibodies against human tau that are capable of distinguishing between normal (healthy) tau and pathological (disease related) tau. This disease, in addition to cognitive deficits, causes memory, learning, verbal decline, and a decline in the ability to perform intentional and purposeful movements.
