A flow generator for delivery of pressurized, breathable gas to treat a patient, the flow generator including a flow generator case comprising a top case and a bottom case, a chassis positioned between the top case and the bottom case, a blower (fan) configured to generate the pressurized, breathable gas, the blower being supported by the chassis, and a muffler arrangement comprising a first muffler volume (under fan cavity 70), a second muffler volume (formed by the space between fan cavity 70 and the fan) and a connecting portion (137) pneumatically connecting the first muffler volume and the second muffler volume. The connecting portion is narrow relative to the first muffler volume and the second muffler volume. The connecting portion includes a portion that narrows in a direction from the first muffler volume to the second muffler volume (from 137a to 137b). The muffler arrangement and the blower are positioned such that gas travels through the first muffler volume and the second muffler volume before entering the blower.
