A syringe cartridge holding assembly is disclosed. The assembly is used as a component in a syringe cartridge applicator (300). The assembly has a pair of opposing side walls having a cap removing means (302) thereon which is adapted to remove a protective cap from a syringe cartridge by contacting one or more protruding shoulders of the protective cap as the syringe cartridge is moved by the applicator into a dispensing position.
