A device for correcting a congenital deformity of the spine and thorax in the case of a unilateral thoracic vertebral segmentation anomaly and fused ribs in children which comprises an extendable plate consisting of two parts (6, 7) having, in cross section, correspondingly shaped profiles which allow the telescopic movement of the parts of the extendable plate in relation to one another, the ends of said plate being provided with support elements (3, 4) for fixing the plate to a cephalic rib and a caudal rib which constitute the cephalic and caudal boundaries of a thoracic deformity. The aim of the invention is to provide more effective correction of a congenital deformity of the spine and thorax in the case of a unilateral thoracic vertebral segmentation anomaly and fused ribs in children, and to prevent complications in the form of the destabilization of the metal structure, the formation of bedsores, and infections. This aim is achieved in that the inner part of the plate (6), in cross section, has a trapezoidal shape, and the support elements (3, 4) are comprised of two half-oval shaped parts, namely a support hook (1) and a costal hook (2), forming an oval contour with a longitudinal knurl on the inner surface of the oval contour, which allow firm fixation to the ribs of the cephalic and caudal regions of the thorax.
