A digit immobilising splint is provided. The splint comprises a first and second support portions (104 & 106) operable to abut and support an underneath face of a digit on each side of a joint, first and second fixing portions (108 & 110) operable to respectively abut opposing side faces of the digit, wherein the first and second fixing portions each extent between the first and second support portions and wherein the fixing portions are operable to be moved between a first, open position (fig. 1a) and a second, closed, position wherein the support and fixing portions abut opposing sides of the digit such as to immobilise the digit and hold the splint in position around the digit (fig. 1b). The first and second fixing portions may each extend between the first and second support portions such as to form a loop, possibly a continuous loop. The splint may comprise one or more further support portions (302, fig. 3a), and one or more support portions may comprise a tab (202, fig. 2a). In at least one embodiment, the splint has a first end that is wider than the second, opposed end (fig. 9-12). The splint may have a planar conformation in the open position, and may be a laminate, such as a two to seven layer laminate, possibly comprising a flexible core layer (114) and a padding layer (112) to engage the surface of the digit. The splint may be operable to be closed with the application of pressure to a single point on each side of the splint.
