The present invention relates to an apparatus for generating phytoncide and a method for controlling the same. The method for controlling an apparatus for generating phytoncide comprises: at least one cartridge which contains solutions for generating phytoncide at least one valve which is connected to the at least one cartridge and opens and closes each cartridge in accordance with a spraying control signal a key manipulation unit which receives selection of a function mode including a place for use to simulate a healing place or a forest of phytoncide and receives input of an area of an inner space to which phytoncide will be sprayed and a control unit which extracts a predetermined target phytoncide generation amount in accordance with information of mixing the solution for each function mode, input through the key manipulation unit, and the area of the inner space input through the key manipulation unit and controls spraying of phytoncide by applying a spraying control signal, corresponding to the extracted mixing information and the target phytoncide generation amount, to the valve.
