The present invention refers to pharmaceutical compositions andto a process for producing them, comprising delphinidin alone orin combination with brilliant blue and/or trypan blue forstaining biological material and improving the identification ofthe different types of biological material, in particular duringsurgical procedures including chromovitrectomy. The presentinvention further relates to a method for staining biologicalmaterial, the said method comprising a step of delivering apharmaceutical composition, according to the present invention,to improve the identification, manipulation and removal of thedifferent biological material during surgical procedures,including eye surgery. The pharmaceutical compositions of thepresent invention are also useful for protecting biologicalstructures from surgical light. Therefore, this invention is inthe technical domain of medical and pharmaceutical industry andrelated ones.
