PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the effect of cleaning menstrual blood stuck to the surface of an outer tube without using an absorbent sheet for covering the outer tube.
SOLUTION: The applicator 1 for a tampon includes: the outer tube 3 provided with a large diameter part 3A for housing the tampon 2 and a small diameter part 3B positioned more on the base part side than the large diameter part 3A and having a diameter smaller than that of the large diameter part 3A and an extruding member 4 slidably inserted to an opening 6 at the rear end of the outer tube 3 and capable of pressurizing the tampon 2 housed in the large diameter part 3A from behind and extruding it from an opening 7 at the front end of the outer tube 3. On the outer surface of the large diameter part 3A, a plurality of recessed parts 13A-13C are provided. When trisecting the large diameter part 3A into a front part A1, a center part A2, and a rear part A3, the number of the recessed parts 13A-13C provided in the rear part 3C is equal to or larger than the number of the recessed parts provided in the front part A1 and the center part A2.
