PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an endoscope that changes the view direction during imaging in a wider range without causing an increase in size of the device.SOLUTION: The endoscope includes: an imaging unit 12 for capturing a subject image an holder 11 for use in imaging for holding the imaging unit two pairs of driving force transmission mechanisms 21X and 21Y, each including a pair of driving rods 22 and 23 whose distal ends relative to the holder are connected at the diagonal positions to each other a driving device 51 that is disposed at the proximal ends of the driving rods, and advances and retracts at least one (e.g., the driving rod 22) of the driving rods in each driving force transmission mechanism and cover members 4, 5 and 6 that are extended from a base member 53 of the driving device and cover at least part of the imaging unit, the holder and the driving force transmission mechanisms, wherein the imaging unit is configured to rotate around two distinct axes by advancing and retracting movement of the driving rods.
