PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a capsule type medical device reducing a risk of being caught when passing a narrow curve portion such as the small intestine.
SOLUTION: This capsule type medical device having an imaging optical system to capture the image of the internal organ is formed with a bellows section stretching or contracting in a longitudinal direction, on a peripheral surface of the capsule body. The bellows section, in the contracted state, covers a member dissolving in the organ. A polymer actuator, a shape memory alloy and the like are used for actuating the bellows section. The distance between lenses is variable to change the distance of a subject to be focused.
