A tibial implant for animals comprising: an implant body having atibia-contacting surface, an outer surface, an articular section and aretainingsection, wherein the tibia contacting surface nestingly conforms to a surfaceofa tibia onto which it is superposed, the articular section is configured tomergewith a tibial plateau of the tibia and to extend posteriorly therefrom and theretaining section is configured to extend along a lateral cortical surface ofthetibia and comprises at least one fastener receiving aperture.
