PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a glass material used as a cover member for protecting medical therapeutic devices such as an endoscope, as a substitute for sapphire, having high rigidity and excellent in chemical durability.SOLUTION: There are provided a glass material containing, by mol%, Al2O3:40 to 70% and Ta2O5:30 to 60% and a manufacturing method of a glass material having a process of heating and melting a glass raw material 12 in a state of holding the glass raw material 12 floating to obtain a molten glass and then cooling the molten glass.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1COPYRIGHT: (C)2016,JPO&INPIT【課題】内視鏡等の医療用治療器具を保護するためのカバー部材として用いられ、サファイアの代替物品として用いる、高剛性であり、かつ化学的耐久性に優れるガラス材、及びその製造方法の提供。【解決手段】モル%で、Al2O3:40~70%、及びTa2O5:30~60%を含有するガラス材及び、ガラス原料12を浮遊させて保持した状態で、ガラス原料12を加熱溶融させて溶融ガラスを得た後に、前記溶融ガラスを冷却する工程を具えるガラス材の製造方法。【選択図】図1
