Pigment powder comprises colored particles having an equivalent diameter of 25 mu m to 2 mm, where each particle is coated with a cured resin film. An independent claim is included for preparing the pigment particles, comprising mixing the colored particles with a dispersion solvent and with colorant and/or micronized pigments in a mixer having a rotational speed of >；= 20 rotations per minute for a time sufficient to allow evaporation of aqueous solution or solvent, and curing the resin film by coating around the particles.
