The device (1) has a retaining device (6), and a fixing device for fixing a paper strip (4) to a perforation point (5) for tearing a projected section of the paper strip. The fixing device is formed by stop rods (8) that are arranged transverse to the paper strip and are fixedly arranged at the retaining device. The paper strip is guided at the rods in a roll direction of the strip, fixed at the rods after deviating the strip opposite to the roll direction and separated from a paper roll (2) at the perforation point between the rods and an end of the strip.
