An apparatus to remove arils from a pomegranate is disclosed, wherein the apparatus comprises at least one bumper configured on an internal surface of a hopper, said hopper having an axis of symmetry a shaft configured to rotate on the axis of symmetry and at least one agitating blade fixed axially on the shaft inside the hopper, wherein the at least one agitating blade is configured to provide a gap between edge of the at least one agitating blade opposite to the at least one bumper and surface of the at least one bumper, wherein the arils are loosened from the pomegranate by repeatedly bumping the pomegranate against the at least one bumper and the at least one agitating blade.
