Die gesamte Elektronik einer Steuerung und von damit verbundenen oder zusammenwirkenden implantierbaren medizinischen passiven und aktiven Implantaten ist in einer zentralen Steuereinheit (ZSE) integriert, die durch lösbare Kabel oder über Telemetrie oder Funkkontakt sämtliche vorhandenen Implantate und gegebenenfalls nachträglich eingefügte Implantate im Patienten (2) steuert und überwacht. Die zentrale Steuereinheit besitzt eine Stromversorgung mittels austauschbarer Batterie.
