A three-dimensional apertured sheet suitable for use as a top sheet or transfer layer in an absorbent article comprising a web and a plurality of apertures in the web, each aperture having at least two vertices with a convex flap of the web spanning a pair of the vertices. It is believed that the convex flaps or walls between the vertices can move independently from the rests of the web and, when taken up in an absorbent article, it is believed that the movements of the wearer lead to periodical stresses in the layer, which cause an up-and-down motion of the convex flaps, which motion pumps or otherwise moves exudates through the apertures, facilitating absorption in the underlying absorbent core. The web is a vacuum-formed film or a non-woven.
