A reload for a surgical stapler comprising a body portion and a mounting assembly configured to be releasably secured to an actuation device of the stapler, the reload having a large diameter portion and a smaller diameter portion, and a tool assembly dimensioned to pass through a trocar wherein the tool assembly comprises a stapling end effector further comprising a cartridge assembly and an anvil assembly, wherein the cartridge assembly has a cartridge body that defines only two rows of staple retention slots (104) on each side of a knife slot (106) of the cartridge body (92) and is provided with a plurality of pushers (114) disposed on each side of the knife slot (106), each of the pushers supporting two staples, the staples being: 1) all of the same size, or 2) the staples being staples of an inner row and staples of an outer row on each side of the knife slot (106), the staples of the inner row being smaller than the staples of the outer row, an actuation sled (116) being positioned to pass longitudinally through the cartridge body (92), the sled (116) having only a first cam member(166) and a second cam member (168) on each side of the knife slot (106) of the cartridge body； and the sled being positioned to pass through the cartridge body (92) to sequentially engage the pushers (114)； wherein the reload further comprises a lockout assembly (170) supported within the large diameter portion and a tissue dissector tip (30) having a tapered configuration located on a distal end of the anvil.
