An indicator device (1) for indicating the characteristics of body tissue stitched with surgical staples as a function of tissue compression time, comprising a housing (2), an actuator (7) located in the housing (2) and having an adjustable element (8) for setting the compression time, as well as the display device (4) held by the housing (2) and interacting with the element (8) for setting the compression time, so that the display device (4) visualizes the tissue characteristics corresponding to the compression time specified by the element (8) for setting the compression time, while the display device (4) is configured to visualize a sign of decreasing the thickness of the clamped tissue in accordance with the set compression time. 2.
