A wound closure device includes an elongated body, a depth stop, and one ormore barbs. The elongated body has first and second ends. The ends areconfiguredand dimensioned for insertion within tissue on opposed sides of a wound. Thedepthstop is positioned on the elongated body to limit the insertion depth of atleast a portionof the elongated body within tissue. The one or more barbs extend radiallyfrom theelongated body and define an inner surface. The inner surface includes a firstportion, asecond portion, and a third portion. The first portion is disposed at a firstorientationrelative to a longitudinal axis of the elongated body. The second portion isdisposed ata second orientation relative to the longitudinal axis. The third portiondisposed at athird orientation relative to the longitudinal axis.
