[Problem] To provide a medical elongate member with which insertion and removal of the medical elongate member into and from a living body can be smoothly performed with minimal invasiveness, and with which the occurrence of unwanted movement during use can be prevented. [Solution] The following are formed on the external surface of a sheath tube 110； a hydrophilic lubricant coating layer 160 that exhibits lubricity when wet； and a thermally responsive lubricant coating layer 170 that exhibits hydrophilicity and lubricity when wet and below a critical temperature, and that exhibits hydrophobicity and non-lubricity when wet and at or above the critical temperature. The thermally responsive lubricant coating layer is positioned to the base side of the hydrophilic lubricant coating layer and is formed at the base side of the sheath tube.
