PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a skin external agent which synergistically enhances the action of suppressing production or deposition of skin melanin and is excellent in the effect of preventing erythema (suntan), skin melanism, freckles, ephelides and the like and also in terms of safety.SOLUTION: The agent contains an extract extracted from a flower of arnica as an essential active ingredient and ascorbic acid 2- glucoside. The ascorbic acid 2- glucoside has a compounding amount of 1.0 to 2.0 mass% relative to the total amount of the skin external agent and the extract has a compounding amount of 0.0002 to 0.0025 mass% relative to the total amount of the skin external agent.
