A dialysis system includes a dialysismachine with a variable fluid demand includingat least a lower demand and a higher demand.A fluid source is in fluid communication with thedialysis machine and provides fluid to the dialysismachine at a fluid flow rate. A flow regulation deviceincludes a fluid inlet in fluid communicationwith the fluid source and a fluid outlet in fluidcommunication with the dialysis machine. Theflow regulation device is operable to expand andcontract to provide a variable internal volume. Theflow regulation device expands when the dialysismachine has the lower demand and contracts whenthe dialysis machine has the higher demand.
