It is intended to provide a vaccinia virus that specifically proliferates in a cancer cell and destroys the cancer cell and to provide use of the virus in cancer treatment. The present invention provides a microRNA-controlled vaccinia virus, in which a target sequence of a microRNA less expressed in a cancer cell than in a normal cell is inserted in a 3&prime； untranslated region of B5R gene associated with viral proliferation in a vaccinia virus, wherein the microRNA-controlled vaccinia virus specifically proliferates in the cancer cell and has an oncolytic property that destroys the cancer cell.
