The suturing device comprises an elongated body, a needle holder and an actuator. The needle holder extends away from the end or is provided as part of the end of an elongated body. The needle holder defines a needle passage configured to hold the accompanying needle. The actuator can be operated between the first operating position and the second operating position, and the movement of the actuator from the first operating position to the second operating position causes the accompanying needle to move in the forward direction. The actuator includes a manually operated member and an urging mechanism that urges the actuator toward a second operating position. The manually operated member is operably connected to the urging mechanism so that the urging mechanism moves towards the second operating position until the manually operated member is moved from the non-actuated position to the actuated position.
