There is provided a method of producing a placenta depigmented plaque membrane. The method involves the removal of cells from pre-depolarized placental membranes, including the amniotic membrane layer and the chorionic membrane, to produce placental membranes that are de-saturated without separating the amniotic membrane layer from the chorionic layer. The precellular placenta membrane is obtained from the amniotic sac, and the de-saturated placenta membrane includes amniotic membrane layer and chorionic membrane layer. Also provided is a placenta-derived implant comprising a de-saturated placenta membrane and a de-saturated placenta membrane.
